Our data center expertise
With over 500 MW of completed data center projects—including hyper-scale facilities—B2 Architects has established itself as a trusted leader in data center design and delivery. Our extensive portfolio demonstrates our ability to execute projects of varying scales and complexities with precision and innovation.
As the world shifts toward AI-driven technologies, we are actively embracing this new frontier. We currently have four AI data center projects in the pipeline, with the first set to break ground in Q1 2025.
Our journey began in 1995, when our principal architect, Barry Kok, designed the pioneering Tele Center concept facilities for the American start-up, New MIS. This early achievement laid the foundation for our expertise, which has grown exponentially over the decades.
In 2016, we were honoured to design and coordinate Africa’s first hyper-scale data center, successfully delivering it under tight deadlines for a major Cloud Services provider. The sector’s rapid expansion since then reflects the ever-growing demand for cloud services and hyper-scale facilities across the continent.

Barry Kok is an accomplished architect with over 30 years of experience, known for his innovative designs and commitment to modern architecture. Since establishing his practice at the age of 28, Barry has built a reputation for excellence, blending technical expertise with a creative vision that inspires contemporary design.
A specialist in data center design since 2012, Barry has led numerous projects to create efficient, scalable, and sustainable facilities that meet the demands of evolving technology. His expertise in this field has positioned him as a trusted leader for mission-critical facilities, while his broader portfolio spans commercial developments, healthcare spaces, and modern glass homes seamlessly integrated into their natural surroundings.
